The annual Springboard UK trek was unfortunately postponed for 2020, due to the pandemic, so in lieu of this, in May 2021 14 teams of around 30 people are participating virtually to reach Nicaragua from the UK.

Throughout the month of May, each team are cycling, walking, running and pushing the incredible distance of 5,300 miles from the UK to Nicaragua. Each team will pledge to raise £3000 per team and all progress is tracked online.

The challenge helps to fundraise for Springboard UK, a charity who are working to futureproof the talent pipeline for hospitality and have been helping young and unemployed people to improve their career potential in hospitality, leisure and tourism for over 30 years.

The iPRO Team have joined forces with partners Bidfood and top household brands including Unilever, Heinz, Muller and Kellogg’s to form Team BF Kinders Legs Misérable who will take on the challenge and all be hydrated by iPRO’s healthy hydration drinks.

Amy-Jane Cahalane, Marketing & Events Partner at Springboard UK, said: “Each year we take a group from the hospitality industry overseas on a trek to raise vital funds for Springboard and support a local community outreach programme. 

“Our 2020 trek to Nicaragua was disappointingly put on hold, but we’re taking the opportunity to get even more people involved and raising money to help futureproof the talent pipeline for hospitality, amidst the current staffing crisis.”
